Jonathan Kalb
TEACHING
Jonathan Kalb is Professor of Theatre at Hunter College, CUNY, and a member of the Theatre Ph.D. program at the CUNY Graduate Center. He was Chair of Hunter’s Theatre Dept. for six years (2001-2007) and since then has served several times as Acting Chair. He moved to Hunter in 1992 after teaching for two years in the Performance Studies Department at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in theater history, theater and performance theory, dramaturgy, critical writing, and playwriting as well as in many different areas of dramatic literature.
He has also directed plays at Hunter, including Sam Shepard’s Curse of the Starving Class and an original adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s The Measures Taken created with the student cast.
